of the late Bishop Elder Clifton Jones Sr. and Hattie B. Jones was born
in LaGrange, North Carolina on May 19, 1933.
Kathy, as her friends and family called her was a graduate of Frink High School in LaGrange, NC and attended Prince Georges Community College, Columbia Union College and Bowie State College. She studied Theology and graduated from The Washington Baptist Seminary in Washington, DC in June, 1985. Kathy truly loved the Word of God and dedicated her life to studying Religion. She continued her studies at Mable Springs Baptist Bible College in 1988 through 1989 and was enrolled in Trinity College and Theological Seminary on her day of departure. During her life here, Kathy received countless awards and acknowledgements for her achievements and dedication to service. Kathy retired from the Department of Social Services for Prince Georges County, Maryland, where she served as a Caseworker and Income Maintenance Specialist. After her retirement, she worked as a Manager at Shelter House, a homeless shelter in Virginia. To describe her is to note her dedication to service. Kathy was active in her community and served as Youth Leader and Counselor for the Peppermill Village Civic Association and organized a Teen Club with her children. She ministered to the youth and believers of the Word in her service at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, New Chapel and Shining Star Baptist Churches. Kathy served as Missionary in the 1980s’ and became an ordained minister in 1984. She served as Pastor of the Junior Church. Kathy was elected President of the Women’s Auxiliary, Baptist Association and Auxiliaries of Southern Maryland and Vicinity for two years. Kathy founded the Soul Winning Crusader’s Ministries, a teaching/helping ministry. Kathy loved to travel and journeyed to Jerusalem in 1992. Her hobbies were collecting salt and pepper shakers, rocks and teddy bears, sewing, reading, studying, writing and listening to gospel music. She wrote several plays that were performed in the house of God. |
