History

The Soul Winning Crusader's Ministry was organized in 1982, by Rev. Katherine J. Kornegay. The late Mother Clara Chinn, and Bishop Clifton F. Jones, Sr. served as mentors and spiritual advisors. There were many who served as Partners in the Ministry, just to name a few, Evangelist Mary Quinn, Rev. Barbara Calhound, Missionary Dorothy Hardy, Pastor Virginia Wrack, Minister Bradastine Palmer, Missionary Bea Poindexter.

We met and launched our theme, "Moving On". For our scriptures we chose Philippians 3:14 and 1 Corinthians 15:58.

In 1983, this ministry was set apart by the late Dr. Ernest Cunningham. He was the assistant English teacher at the Washington Baptist Seminary, at the Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church, Washington, D.C. Pastor Poindexter gave the charge.

We have assisted many churches in and around the Metropolitan area, in training workshops, training officers and teachers, organizing youth ministries, visiting nursing homes, hospitals, prisons, youth centers, street ministries, aiding families in distress, providing food and clothing and aiding families with shelter and employment.

In 1989, our first Gospel newsletter "The Gospel-Zette" was mailed. Sister Teresa Stewart, served as our editor, and Brother Verbe Thomas - The Fairmount Heights Press was our first printer. Through this newsletter we reached many homes.

In 1997, our first radio broadcast was launched over the waves of Radio One WYCB, 1340, AM, from 6:30 P.M. til 7:00 P.M., now located in Lanham, Maryland.

Through this ministry we have inspired parents, children, teachers, ministries, evangelist, missionaries, etc. to live, learn and grow in harmony. While working with others we grew closer as fellow-workers in the ministry loving one another, caring for one another and sharing with one another and growing and loving life abundantly. Holding dear to our hearts our basic institutions, our homes, our schools and our churches.

There are those who made their calling and election sure and have moved on into other areas and still pressing toward the mark

Our aim is to further aid in the enhancement of the physical, social, educational and spiritual growth of our fellowman. To make our societies, our communities, our schools and our churches more conforming to the will of GOD.

We have ascribed to GOD's divine plan that we can live purposeful, fruitful, and spiritual lives, out of these aspirations, we live a beautiful environment.

By its very nature, the Soul Winning Crusaders Ministry is far more than a collection of people and of course for the workers, a ministry is a providing ground, an environment in which the moral, social, cultural, spiritual and intellectual framework of their lives take shape and grows. Its workers is the productive community which will have a free flow of ideas which provides for an abundant life force to help them "Move On" toward the prize.

If the greatest measure of a ministry is how well it serves the people, well the SWC ministry stands ready to lead those to CHRIST who want Him to shape and mold their lives according to GOD's eternal plan. We stand ready to aid in promoting intellectual leadership, healing of the mind, body and soul, through the word of God. We are committed to our ministry.

We focus on building stabled families, living and working together for the betterment of each family member. Encouraging appreciation of a full range of abilities and potentials. And to the SPIRIT, to hold in view the Biblical and religious aspirations that will hold the family together physically and spiritually. Also to help them understand, that GOD sees each of us as an unique individual.

INTRODUCTION

The Soul Winning Crusaders Ministry was organized in 1982 by Reverend Katherine Jones Kornegay, after discussing the vision with the late Mother Clara Chinn, who was her mentor and Christian mother at the time. Mother Chinn was instrumental in assisting me with all the things I had to do in order to get this ministry off to a good start. She encouraged me every step of the way and was always there for me. I must also, give credit to my father, the late Bishop Clifton F. Jones, Sr. who was there for me and was never to busy to answer my questions and to give me the advice that I needed in organizing this ministry.

After a few months, I shared the vision with some of Christian friends, who later became partners in the ministry. They were Evangelist Mary Quinn, Missionary Dorothy Hardy, Rev. Barbara Calhoun, the late Missionary Bea Poindexter. We meet and launched our theme "Moving On". The theme was lifted from a song written by Rev. Katherine J. Kornegay, titled, "I've Got to Keep Moving On", and set to music by Sir Gene Dawson. We chose Philippians 3:14 "I press toward the mark of the prize of the high calling of GOD in CHRIST JESUS", and 1 Corinthians 15:58b... .be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the LORD, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the LORD", for our scriptures. In reflecting on these words, we realized what a wonderful opportunity they presented to those who are apart of this ministry.

We are presenting the them as a positive challenge for all of the partners of the Soul Winning Crusaders Ministry; past, present and future. In order to bring out the best in this ministry, all must be dedicated to investing their best, making each day a "Master Piece".

As we look forward to the new year, we know a little more work is required of each of us, such as a prayer, meditation and the study of GOD's word, good planning, professional management, and an enthusiastic and confident team to achieve the goals of this ministry. Think, when we invest our best, we will surpass our goals and will continue to make the Soul Winning Crusaders Ministry a caring ministry fighting for the good and betterment of those we minister to, with brotherly love "staying focus on the prize while being steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the LORD.

We thank each of you for your prayers and support in the name of JESUS CHRIST our LORD and SAVIOR - to a valued people.

Rev. Katherine J. Kornegay.

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will guide thee with mine eye. (Psalm 32:8)

WHAT WE ARE
We are a caring ministry offering THE TRUE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST, which leads to the path for acquiring salvation.

OUR OBJECTIVE
Our objective is to win souls for CHRIST; to aid the sick and shut-in; feed the hungry; clothe the naked; visit the prisoners; and to aid the homeless. Our main objective is to teach the Word of GOD.. . .to enable each family, each person, to come together to achieve the fellowship most suitable to their particular needs which we believe this ministry will be able to accomplish by being faithful, steadfast, unmovable and always abounding in the work of the LORD.
